Keep in mind that students learn more when:

  • text is displayed in short chunks that can be easily read and comprehended (no more than 6
  • bullet points per slide, 20 point font)
  • a variety of ways to present information is used
  • learning modalities are mixed, ie spoken word with text or images
  • the PowerPoint structures learning and includes activities
  • simple cues such text size, bolding, italics, highlighted or shaded text boxes direct learners to important points
  • you expand and explain information rather than leaving them to read on their own
  • they are given the PowerPoint slides before the class
